💻 Product Description
Twin Screw Extruder Pellet Machine

Modular Construction

The twin screw extruders are built on a modular system. Screw elements with different lengths and functions are mounted to the main splined shaft. The screw combination is changeable. Thus, with a few screw elements and barrel variations, different processing tasks can be finished on the same machine. Maintenance costs are reduced as only worn parts need replacement.

Temperature Separately Controlled

The modular principle of the barrel permits precise sequencing for each application. Each barrel section's temperature can be set separately. Electrical heaters provide heating, and cooling is obtained with water. Barrels and elements are made out of nitride steel or wear-resistant materials for standard and specialized requirements.

Standard Barrels

Selectable order of screw elements assures mating with process configurations. Different process zones can be set up for Conveying, Kneading, Mixing, Shearing, Homogenizing, Degassing, and Pressure building.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main advantages of a modular screw system?
The modular system allows for flexible configuration of screw elements and barrels to meet specific processing tasks. It also significantly reduces maintenance costs, as only individual worn elements need to be replaced instead of the entire screw.
How does the clamshell barrel design benefit the operator?
The clamshell barrel can be opened in minutes, providing immediate access to the internal components. This facilitates extremely fast product changeovers, simplified cleaning, and efficient maintenance or research activities.
What type of temperature control is used in these extruders?
Each barrel section features independent temperature control. Heating is typically provided by electrical heaters, while cooling is managed via a water-based system, allowing for a precise thermal profile along the processing line.
What materials are the barrels and screw elements made from?
Standard versions are constructed from high-quality nitride steel. For applications requiring higher durability, wear-resistant versions are available using materials tailored to specific corrosive or abrasive requirements.
What processing zones can be configured within the extruder?
The system can be interchangeably set up for various functions including conveying, kneading, mixing and shearing, homogenizing, degassing, and pressure building to suit different polymer processing needs.
Are these extruders suitable for laboratory or pharmaceutical use?
Yes, specialized Lab and Pharma models are available. The Pharma models utilize Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) technology for producing granules and controlled-release tablets, while the Lab models offer high versatility for small-scale testing.
